THE fine fellows of Liverpool’s commercial pro- perty market gathered at the city’s new Hard Day’s Night Hotel for the official launch of Grosvenor’s Liverpool One office space offering.
Around 35,000 sq ft of space is being offered by Grosvenor in three refurbished buildings.
Guests were treated to a free bar and light bites and a short film about Liverpool One, accompanied by a deafening Queen soundtrack. Well, what other music would you play in a Beatles-themed hotel?
The selection of grub on offer included the now obligatory mini fish and chips, but one agent was puzzled about the colour of the fish underneath the batter.
“I’ve never seen a brown fish before,” he said, examining it closely.
“You’ve obviously never swam in the Mersey,” replied one wag.
IT’S off to the MIPIM international property festival in Cannes next week for some lucky souls, but one or two seem deter- mined to make getting there harder than it should be.
To raise some cash for charity and offset their carbon footprint, Urban Splash directors Jonathan Falkingham, above, and Nick Johnson will be cycling to the event on the Cote D’Azur.
Nick will be conducting a 932-mile trip from London to Cannes, while Jonathan will be setting off from Barcelona, travelling 520 miles over the Pyrenees.
Both will no doubt have to spend the entire event pinned to their hotel beds in agony. If you would like to support their efforts, log onto www.justgiving.com/ jonathanfalkingham or www.justgiving.com/ cycletocannes
A BIG thanks to the Liverpool office of accountants Grant Thornton, who this week kindly sent the Daily Post business desk two boxes of luxury chocs.
Accompanying them was a card describing the contents of the box, and each chocolate has been given a name with a Budget theme.
They include Lemon Zing – “Bitter taste for low earners on tax credits” and Cocoa-Dusted Dark – “strong measures to stabilise the economy”.
The card also includes info on key personnel at GT. Partner Martin Dawson is apparently “particularly interested in non-domicile taxation”. Crazy guy.
