Who says lawyers don’t have a risqué side?
Senior legal eagles at Halliwells, in Liverpool, no doubt worked hard to avoid any double entendres last week when the guest speaker for their annual partners con ference turned up. The glamorous and successful Michelle Mone, below, founder of the Ultimo range of bras and lingerie, addressed the event.
And the high-flying entrepreneur soon had her pin-striped hosts hanging on her every word with a battery of flattery.
She complained about “stuck up” London solicitors whose legal language left her baffled, adding she much preferred the “down-to-earth” approach of the lawyers at Halliwells.
Trading Gossip hopes she didn’t give out any free samples of her products – that may have taken some explaining when male partners arrived home.
WARRINGTON-BASED shopfitting firm Morris & Spottiswood is keen to communicate better with its clients, but we’re not sure we’re bowled over by the enthusiasm of chairman George Morris.
On the front of the comp- any’s website, there is a message from George out- lining its strategy which apparently is its “differentiation”. So that’s clear then.
And with what we detect is a small hint of sarcasm, George adds: “In the time- honoured fashion of senior management, we thought we should rebrand our website with some flash new colours to help that message. I hope this adds to your understanding of our business and our point of differentiation.”
These web designers, eh, George – money for old rope or what?
MIXED loyalties over the next few days for former Liverpool FC star-turned busi- nessman Michael Thomas.
Reds fans will remember with fondness his FA Cup final goal in 1992, but not so much the last-minute goal he scored at Anfield for Arsenal in 1989, which saw the league title go to Highbury.
Liverpool play the Gunners in both Champions League and Premiership clashes this week, and Michael is apparently torn. However, given that he will next week run in the London Marathon to raise cash for Alder Hey’s Imagine appeal, we know he’s a Merseysider at heart.
