CO² levels still too high in Liverpool

PROPERTY agent GVA Grimley has released new research detailing the relationship between CO² emission levels and total commercial property floor space.

The report ranks the overall carbon footprint impact of ten top UK business centres including Liverpool and Manchester.

The research report, How Green is My City, reveals that Sheffield has the biggest overall carbon footprint impact (82 out of 100) and Edinburgh has the lowest (61 out of 100).

Liverpool and Manchester sit in third (70 out of 100) and fourth (69 out of 100) place on the table respectively, illustrating that there is still much to be done in the North West’s largest cities. The results are based on an assessment of each city’s relative carbon emission levels, waste production, intensity of space use, brownfield land development rates and quality of new developments.

Simon Reynolds, partner at GVA Grim- ley said: “In order to reach the Govern- ment’s targets of re- ducing CO² emissions by 2050, we have a long way to go.”
