VENMORE Commercial is throwing its weight behind proposals by Rodney Street Residents Association demanding “concerted action” to bring the historic street back to its prime.
The association has won support of stakeholders including property owners, the city council and the utility companies to consider undertaking a raft of improvements.
Residents association chairman Emlyn Williams said it is critical the momentum generated by Hope Street’s recent renovations is maintained.
“Rodney Street was laid out200 years ago and, despite its elegance, history and grandeur, disrepair, inappropriate signage and traffic have all taken their toll,” he said.
“We need to follow the example of Hope Street where sensitive and impressive improvements have been made.”
Venmore Commercial partner Kevin Cockburn, who manages the sale and letting of many properties on Rodney Street, said it faced the most critical time.
He added: “An enormous amount of effort and energy has gone into the revival of Rodney Street.”
Venmore has recently been involved with more than £6m worth of deals attracting investors from across the country.”
