THE UK’s leading regeneration specialist wants to create a major new shopping centre in a £8m redevelopment project in Deeside.
St Modwen Properties has submitted an outline planning application for the redevelopment of Ffordd Llanarth Neighbourhood Centre, Connah’s Quay.
The scheme involves the construction of a 48,000 sq ft supermarket together with 21,900 sq ft of additional retail units. Gillespie’s pub will be retained.
Birmingham-based St Modwen already owns the centre and is acquiring extra land from Flintshire County Council to enable the project to go ahead.
Richard Bakes, St Modwen’s development manager, said: “It is hoped a start on construction of the first phase of the development will take place in late autumn, 2008, to enable the relocation of the existing tenants, followed by the demolition of the existing centre and the construction of the second phase.”
