Bank takes floor of city centre building

BANK of Ireland has agreed to take an entire floor at Rumford’s 20 Chapel Street development in Liverpool.

The bank will occupy the entire 13th floor of the Chapel Street building, a space totalling 6,500 sq ft, at a headline rent to £20 per sq ft. Staff will relocate from nearby Castle Chambers.

Acting on behalf of Rumford Developments, the agents on the scheme were Hitchcock, Wright & Partners and DTZ. King Sturge acted on behalf of the Bank of Ireland.

The bank will move into its new premises within the 16 storey tower in mid-March 2008 following a two month fit out that is currently under way. The new office will be staffed by approximately 30 corporate banking and support staff. Situated near the waterfront, 20 Chapel Street was completed in 2007 and supplies the city with 150,000 sq ft of Grade A office space.

The Bank of Ireland is currently one of a number of high-profile companies that has chosen to take space within the scheme, including architect Broadway Malyan, Ernst & Young and Panmure Gordon.

Neil Kirkham, from agents Hitchcock, Wright and Partners, said: “The recent acquisition by Bank of Ireland and other blue chip companies, such as Ernst Young, Panmure Gordon and Broadway Malyan, further demonstrates that 20 Chapel Street is becoming “the” location for businesses requiring the very best working environment for their operations and employees.”

Ciaran McGivern, the Bank of Ireland’s regional director, added: “20 Chapel Street was a perfect choice for us. The premises are not only located in a stunning, prominent spot on Liverpool’s waterfront but are ideally situated for our local, national and International clients.

“Our move comes as result of a particularly successful year in terms of business growth – both in Liverpool and across the north west region – and we hope that this growth will continue.”
