LIVERPOOL property group Downing has achieved Newcastle’s largest ever commercial pre-let at its Downing Plaza development in the city centre.
Newcastle University Business School has taken 100,000 sq ft at the £200m mixed-use scheme on the former Scottish and Newcastle Brewery site.
Downing Plaza was the largest planning application to be lodged in Newcastle since 1973 and was approved in September, 2007.
The 600,000 sq ft mixed-use development will feature a 200-bed four star (plus) hotel, a 462-bed student village, 24 residential apartments, 10,000 sq ft of retail space and 200,000 sq ft of offices, across six iconic new buildings.
Downing is Liverpool’s biggest commercial landlord and its portfolio includes the former Royal & Sun Alliance headquarters in Old Hall Street, now renamed the Capital, and the Port of Liverpool Building.
