ST MODWEN Properties has acquired a vacant 4,000 sq ft unit in Great Homer Street, Liverpool, as part of its regeneration proposals for the area.
It has bought 12 Dryden Street, formally owned by Ellis Wainwright, just off Great Homer Street, and will eventually be redeveloped to provide new light industrial or business space.
Chris Newsome, development manager for St Modwen said: “This is our fourth purchase in Dryden Street. These early steps are vital to our plans to regenerate Great Homer Street and the surrounding area.”, and demonstrate our ongoing commitment to the scheme.
They were also talking to the occupiers of neighbouring units about ways of enabling them to continue trading while regeneration went ahead.and to allow us to move towards delivering this vital project for north Liverpool.”
Last year St Modwen bought four industrial estates in the north of the city to give industrial occupiers likely to be affected by the plans for a new district centre the option to move.at Great Homer Street.
The scheme will deliver new homes and facilities for the community, including a health centre, a library and a retail centre including the largest food superstore in Liverpool.
Work is planned to begin in summer 2009. The retail sections will be the first phase of the development and will be followed by two residential phases. It is expected that the project will be completed by 2012.
