Mere Grange open for business

PHASE One of the Mere Grange Business Park, in St Helens, has been launched to agents from across the North West, following its completion.

Mere Grange is a development built through a joint venture with developer Langtree and national regeneration agency English Partnerships, using funds from English Partnerships’ National Coalfields Programme and the EU through the Merseyside Objective 1 programme.

It is off the A570 St Helens Linkway, which links to Junction 7 of the M62.

The £12m first phase is an office development providing over 54,000 sq ft of space in 10 speculatively built buildings offering detached or semi-detached self-contained units ranging in size from 3,400 to 10,100 sq ft.

Stephen Barnes, group development director at Langtree, said: “We are delighted with the first phase of Mere Grange, which provides high-quality office accommodation within a very high-quality business environment.

“We are extremely confident that the scheme will meet the exacting standards of modern occupiers, and strong interest has already been attracted with over 3,468 sq ft under offer.

“Future development totalling 300,000 sq ft will be brought forward in phases on either a speculative or bespoke basis to further satisfy those needs, ensuring that Mere Grange is set to become one of the North West’s premier business parks.”

The buildings are set in a 31-acre landscaped environment and are designed to be sustainable and energy efficient.

Eliot Lewis-Ward, area director at English Partnerships, said: “Our investment of £7.4m through the National Coalfields Programme prepared the site ready for this prestigious development.

“It is great to see the fruition of the first phase of this major employment site which should attract further private sector investment and bring new employment opportunities to St Helens.”

The architects for Mere Grange were Seven Architecture, the main contractor on site was Morgan Ashurst, and the agents are King Sturge and Keppie Massie.
