British Energy will hold discussions with possible bidders

British Energy says today it has received a “range of proposals” from several parties wishing to make a full offer for the nuclear power firm.

The group is not disclosing the names of the companies involved, but says it plans to hold discussions with all the parties over the next few weeks.

In a statement it says: “The board wishes to stress that each of the proposals requires further development and that the process is therefore likely to continue for a number of weeks.”
