Soaring fuel prices hit international air freight traffic

International air freight traffic is being hit by sky high oil prices, new figures indicated.

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) says cross-border air freight traffic grew just 1.3% year-on-year in May.

Cross-border air traffic, which IATA measures in freight tonne kilometres, is considered a leading indicator of the health of world trade.
