DIGITAL technology giant Apple is to open a superstore in the Liverpool One development.
Grosvenor has kept the news under wraps for months but has now confirmed that one of the most sought-after retail brands in the world the has agreed to launch a new store in the city.
In addition, George Davies is to open a S’porter store in Liverpool One to sell Liverpool FC kits as well as other clothing and accessories.
At Apple recruiting is under way for what is understood to be one of the toughest jobs in retail to acquire – the success rate for applicants is just over 5%.
Each new store openings attracts thousands of Mac anoraks and features T-shirt giveaways, lucky bags and lots of razzamatazz.
The opening of the London store in Regent Street lured 5,000 fans with many waiting overnight in the queue for goodies worth £700.
Liverpool One declined to say just where the superstore will be located within the £1bn development.
The shops themselves are created with all sorts of trendy features such as metallic walls and signage lighting. Sales of computers, software and accessories are complemented by studios, theatres and an ipod bar.
There are likely to be other Apple branded accessories such as TVs and cellphones as well as a range of technical and creative experts plus regular events with speakers and even bands.
In Liverpool the American corporation is seeking a store manager and assistant plus a host of Mac user experts and individuals with creative flair.
Although Apple never comments on future locations its recruitment website for Liverpool states: “The Apple Store offers a unique opportunity to share your passion for Apple products with customers and Mac enthusiasts alike.

Merseysider George Davies, founder of Next and George at Asda, has agreed a deal for a 13,000 sq ft S’porter retail outlet at the upper level in South John Street. It will be the fourth branch in the city..
