Motor group wins safety awards

SUTTONS Group has won two national safety awards.

The group won the Motor Transport Safety in Operation award for the third time. The company was honoured for its commitment to fleet safety, initiatives to reduce accidents and overall safety record.

Suttons’ Widnes depot also picked up the Freight Transport Association (FTA) Roadworthiness Award in recognition of its high standards of vehicle safety, maintenance and staff training.

Group managing director Andrew Palmer said: “Everyone at Suttons is thrilled to have won these two highly regarded awards which recognise our commitment to all aspects of safety, maintenance and training.

“We have all put tremendous energy into making safety a top priority .

“Our Think SAFE Programme has led to outstanding results in reducing, year on year, safety related incidents. Not only has the number of lost time injuries halved in the last 12 months, our road vehicle accidents are also down by 40% in the last two years.”
