Rise in revenue for Eli Lilly

PHARMACEUTICALS giant Eli Lilly has reported an 11% rise in revenues in its second quarter.

The company, which employs 500 people at its Speke plant, saw revenues rise to £2.6bn, up from £2.35bn the previous year.

Some 70% of the Speke plant’s work is for Lilly’s Elanco ani- mal products division.

Worldwide sales of animal health products rose 19% to £128m over the period.

For the first six months of 2008, Lilly’s overall worldwide sales increased 12% to £5bn.
