Liverpool graduate new co-chief of Motorola

A FORMER Liverpool University student has been appointed as the co-chief executive officer of mobile phone giant Motorola.

Dr Sanjay Jha graduated with a degree in engineering before completing a PhD at Strathclyde University.

He held design engineering roles in London and San Diego, USA before joining Californian wireless telecoms company Qualcomm, where he worked for 14 years.

The 45-year-old will have responsibility for Motorola’s mobile devices business and will receive Motorola stock units worth about £18m.
