A MERSEY-BASED global renewable energy specialist says rocketing gas prices could help end the UK’s dependence on fossil fuels.
Mark McManus, Wirral-based UK managing director of Stiebel Eltron, said British Gas’s decision to increase its bills by 35% overnight was another major incentive for Merseyside’s public and private sector to install renewable energy products.
“Renewable energy products are the future as the Government starts to exert greater pressure on both the public and private sector to become greener and more energy efficient,” he said.
“They do not use oil, gas or coal and only take a small amount of electricity from the national grid. The rest of the energy, to heat a building, is generated by the environment either from beneath the ground or from the air.
“This obviously costs nothing and does not emit CO². So, in a climate of increased government pressure and soaring gas bills, renewable energy products are a cost saving, green-friendly alternative for the building industry, housing associations, landlords and home owners.”
