Rent-a-bod among most promising firms

RENT-A-BOD, based in Bowring Park, is one of the 14 businesses selected from across the UK to go through to the next round of judging in the Most Promising New Business category of the British Small Business Champions (BSBC) 2008.

This is a new category in the British Small Business Champions, its aim is to highlight the endeavours and achievements of the 500,000 plus people who start their own business each year.

The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), which organises BSBC, sees it as a way of supporting and applauding the efforts of the up-and-coming generation of small businesses.

Rent-a-Bod was started by Craig Hailes and his fiancée, Victoria Corcoran, in January, 2007. Its aim is to take the hassle out of everyday life by providing a wide range of services including carpet and upholstery cleaning, household and office cleaning, driveway and patio pressure cleaning, gutter clearing, garden maintenance and pet care.

To date, the venture has more than 200 customers – with 95% returning for repeat or different services.
