Training group in science park move

LIVERPOOL Science Park is now 80% occupied after another letting was secured.

The Centre for Education Leadership Liverpool (CEL) is moving into LSP. It is one of three regional centres run by the Centre for Educational Leadership, at the University of Manchester, which provide national training programmes for leaders working not only in the education sector but now expanding into other areas within the public sector.

As the science park, a limited company owned by the city council, the University of Liverpool and Liverpool John Moores University, marks off this milestone, its attention turns to the second phase of development, the innovation centre 2 (ic2), an £8m scheme being built by Neptune Developments.

The new building, due to open in spring, 2009, will include 10,000 sq ft of dedicated laboratory space, enabling existing businesses housed in the science park to expand, as well as providing new space for start-up companies.

It is estimated that, with the delivery of further phases, the park could support as many as 7,000 local jobs within the next 10 years.
