Accountants help gardener’s blossoming nursery

A FORMER BBC Gardener of the Year is being helped to bed in her business by a team from Baker Tilly.

The Warrington accountancy firm is advising Sue Beesley, who hopes to attract 100,000 visitors to Lodge Lane nursery, in Dutton.

She bought the site last year, and was previously joint managing director of Newton-le-Willows IT security consultancy Network Defence, which her husband, David, still runs.

Colin Humphrey, a partner at Baker Tilly, said: “Sue has worked very hard and successfully turned Lodge Lane into a viable business. The garden centre sector has undergone massive changes, with small independents under considerable pressure from players such as Wyevale.”
