IoM Steam Packet Company owner buys Channel Islands operator

THE owner of the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company has acquired Channel Islands ferry operator Condor.

Australia-based banking giant Macquarie has agreed a £250m deal to purchase the company to secure its long-term future.

Similar assurances were given when Macquarie bought out the Steam Packet Company, with an emphasis on retaining the identity of the world's oldest continuous shipping line.

Condor Ferries operates between Weymouth, Poole and Portsmouth to Jersey, Guernsey and northern France.
