Integral to produce film about boxing champ’s rags to riches life story

A LIVERPOOL company has landed the job of producing the DVD life story of world boxing champion Joe Calzaghe.

Integral Productions has begun filming the rags-to-riches story on the back of news that their Ricky Hatton disc has become the biggest- selling boxing DVD.

The company, run by Mike Cockayne and Martin O'Shea, will film in Calzaghe's hometown of Newbridge, in South Wales, as well as tracing his Sicilian roots.

Music industry giant Universal will distribute the DVD which will ensure international exposure.

It's seen as another coup for the Bold Street-based production outfit. Leisa Maloney, of Fire Management, is to promote the launch of the DVD.

She said: "The success of the Ricky Hatton story has opened more doors for Integral, which has been confirmed by getting another prestige job.

"Joe and his father, Enzo, are real characters, but both very down-to-earth and great to work with.

“We anticipate the DVD being out before Christmas, and it should be another great success."

Welshman Calzaghe is the world super-middleweight champion and BBC Sports Personality of the Year.
