City surveyor’s retirement

MICHAEL ROBERTS, one of Chester’s longest- serving and most respected surveyors has retired, but will remain as a consultant with Mason Owen.

Mr Roberts’s career began in Manchester in 1961 and, after a couple of placements there, including a spell with his father, he moved to Chester in 1970 to join WE Brown.

This firm later became part of Swetenhams, where Michael became a partner, later amalgamated into Mason Owen.

He was presented with a bottle of 1970 port to acknowledge his arrival date by colleague, Mark Fearnall.

Mr Roberts highlighted his delight that he was ending his career as part of Mason Owen. Chairman, Barry Owen, also presented him with a painting by one of his favourite artists.
