Dockside bars chalk up record sales in Culture Year
TWO of Liverpool’s best-known bars are reporting record sales, thanks to Capital of Culture and the opening of the Echo Arena and BT Convention Centre.
Albert Dock-based PanAm, and Blue Bar & Grill, have seen sales rise 60% and 40% respectively already this year.
Owner Harlequin Entertainment said the venues had thrived despite increased competition at the Albert Dock. Operations director Colin Stuart said: “PanAm and Blue Bar and Grill are both performing above expectation this year, and we are delighted with the culture effect. The highlight for us this year has to be Klimt, at Tate Liverpool, which brought a constant flow of new day visitors to the dockside venues.
“We have made significant investment in our venues, particularly in customer service training, to ensure all visitors have a positive experience of Liverpool.”
Harlequin’s marketing manager Suzanne Watson said: “The launch of our partners at ACC Liverpool and Liverpool One brings the waterfront back into the heart of the city.”
