‘No threat to Baugur’

ICELANDIC retail investor Baugur is insisting its roster of UK high street businesses – including Deeside-based Iceland frozen foods – is not under threat from the banking crisis.

The group also has stakes in some of Britain’s other best- known retailers, including House of Fraser, Debenhams, Woolworths, Moss Bros and French Connection.

Iceland’s government is currently wrestling with the fall-out from the global financial crisis that has led to a series of bank crashes.

Baugur recently divested itself of any Icelandic assets, leaving its portfolio based mainly in the UK.
