New faces join commercial partnership

LIVERPOOL Commercial District Partnership has appointed several new faces to its board.

The group, which aims to improve the city’s commercial district and promote it as a place to do business, held its AGM last night.

New board members include Merseytravel chief executive Neil Scales; Debbie Thompson, from Alliance & Leicester Commercial Bank; Hill Dickinson’s David Swaffield; and Ian Sherry, of UK Land & Property.

David Guest, former director of property firm Bruntwood, officially succeeded Lesley Chalmers as Partnership chairman.

He said: “In such economic climates as these, it is important to remember that, while you need to deal with today, tomorrow comes around just as quickly as it always has.

“We are confident our new board membership will help guide the district into the future as we leave behind Capital of Culture year and move on to Year of the Environment in 2009 and the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai. To attract and keep the best businesses in Europe, we must have a place that people wish to come to work, live and play, and while doing it to enjoy their daily experience. That is what the Partnership’s focus will be.”
